President's Message

PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND SUPPORT

As President of the Long Island School Media Association, let me take this opportunity to thank-you for joining and/or renewing your membership in LISMA or encourage you to do so without delay. This is a significant step on your part.   Your membership and participation in conferences, meetings, workshops and other events lends evidence to the important role that you play and your sincere intentions for professional growth. All of these provide opportunities for the exchange of ideas and information.

As your local professional organization, LISMA is your liaison to regional and national professional groups such as New York Library Association/School Library Media Section and the American Library Association/ American Association of School Librarians.

We are going green!  Instead of using print media to send out information previously shared through LISMA Ink, we will be introducing LISMA L-Ink on the website.  Our intention is to keep it as current as possible and add new highlights on a monthly basis. We expect to include articles to enhance your teaching and librarianship skills, resource recommendations, book selection tips, etc.

If you have any ideas for future programs, items for LISMA L-Ink or want to become more involved with your local professional organization, please don't hesitate to
contact any board member.  We would love your input.

We would also like to be able to easily communicate with you through email... But this can only be done if we have your current email address.  If you haven’t already provided this information, it can be sent to kwalsh@lisma.org. Let me assure you in advance that we don’t intend on having to use this extensively.  Most of the information we will need to convey to you will be found at the website, but there are times that we might want to limit information shared to members only.
